My name is Emily Cairns, and I am an illustrator based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I graduated from the University of Sunderland with a Master of Design in 2025, where I illustrated my first children's book, The Grand Wallington Express.

I have since worked with Newcastle Theatre Royal on a variety of projects. I illustrated their interactive front-of-house map for a family-friendly open day to the general public. This project enabled me to create relatable characters and produce a piece that inspires people to engage with theatre. 

 

I have also created illustrations for Marketing and a bespoke illustration of the Theatre for the 20th anniversary of the Pantomime. This was gifted to the Pantomime company. 

 

My portfolio showcases some personal commissions. I have designed Christmas menus and table place settings. I have created prints of houses, buildings and characters for customers.
